Storyboard

The Angel, story from Hans Christian Andersen

I imagine the introduction to be quick images of events passing by and showing the viewer as well as opening credits, similar to the Spider-Man 2 and 3 movie opening titles.

Pictograph

Stick up for you :)
Design Brief
Pictographic Narrative
-Tell a story with a sequence of images using simplified pictorial signs and symbols

A pictographic narrative is simple and straight forward in getting a point across. It can be told by a sequence of images using simplified pictorial signs and symbols. The purpose of this particular pictograph is just to tell a short story, just for entertainment purposes. It will be directed at a more mature audience as it is not to be taken literally but just something that is humorous, something to break up the mood. The pictograph is to have a meaning behind it though, perhaps you are not alone, friends and family will help you in times of need, any hidden moral behind the story. It may be seen on a website just on the side, or in an email around friends just for a quick laugh and a reminder of the moral of the story.

The short story pictograph is to fit between four to eight slides unless proven to work otherwise. Each scene will be 6x6 inches and be spread upon an 18x12 inch canvas. As it is a pictograph there are no words to be used, just the images. Black and white is preferred and the images to be simple. With this simplistic design it is quick for the viewers to get an understanding of what is happening within the images.

As a pictograph is straight to the point, it is just images. This helps to stick to the mind of the viewer, especially if black and white it can be taken as like a snapshot to the brain and easily remembered. That is part of the effectiveness of the pictograph. The time frame is seven days and is to be ready by then for evaluation.

Dots Forming Lines, Forming an Image

Stain-Glass-Fear

My image is made in photoshop and is trying to depict the emotion fear. It is supposed to resemble a scary face. The face is shown by the various dots on a stain glass window made into an image by being coloured in certain places. I thought of this when thinking of dots becoming lines, and then lines forming the image.

The stain glass canvas was made by having two similar dark grey colours and using a filter effect to create a tear texture, then using another filter to turn it into a stain-glass looking image with shades of grey. By then using the magic wand tool i selected certain dots on the glass and used the selection on a new layer then filling it with a gradient. Selecting each dot and doing a gradient for each was time consuming but helped to slowly picture the image i had in my head. Once the dots were done i created another layer that is an overlay to make an outline of a hood, something that like a Grim Reaper horror figure would have. This helped to stand out the facial features.

CD Cover Front and Back

Here is my front and back CD covers. I designed them for a DJ trying to promote his mixes. The design is inspired by trance/house music so there is dark being contrasted with light colours and glows, kind of like how a DJ event or club would be for this genre.
